Many companies offer matching gift initiatives designed to boost the effect of their staff members' individual donations. Typically, these companies match each employee's donation on a one-to-one basis, while some even go the extra mile, doubling or tripling the amount.
At checkout when donating online, you will be able to check to see if your employer has a matching gift program.
A Donor Advised Fund (DAF) is like a personal savings account used for charitable giving, managed by a financial institution, such as Fidelity Investments, Schwab or Vanguard. You can put money into your DAF, get tax benefits immediately, and then decide which charities you want to support. If you have one, Meals on Main Street would appreciate your gift.
